Lichen planus (LIE-kun PLAY-nus -LP) is an ailment that affects the layers of skin, hair, nails, mouth and genitalia. LP frequently manifests on the skin as flat, purple, itchy pimples that grow over several weeks. LP develops lacy white areas in the oral and vaginal mucosa, occasionally with painful ulcers. The ultimate aim of this review is to emphasize the deep knowledge on the types, clinical features, etiology, pathogenesis, relationship between candida and lichen planus, correlation with other disease conditions, diagnosis, management and recent advances in the treatment of Lichen planus.
